Reese's Cake

Ingredients

- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/3 cups buttermilk or 1 1/3 cups sour milk
- 1/2 cup shortening, margarine or 1/2 cup butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 4 egg whites
- 10 ounces reese's chips
Recipe
- 1 in a bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and 1/8 tsp salt. add buttermilk, shortening, and vanilla. beat with an electric mixer on low speed for 30 seconds, scraping bowl occasionally.
- 2 add egg whites and beat for 2 minutes more, scraping bowl.
- 3 pour in 10oz bag reese's chips - stir with spoon. pour into 2 greased and floured 9x 1 1/2 inch round baking pans.
- 4 bake at 350f for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- 5 cool on wire racks for 10 minutes. loosen sides and remove from pans. cool thoroughly on wire racks.
