Ingredients

- 1/2 cup crisco
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs, unbeaten
- 2 cups sifted cake flour
- 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 3/4 cup milk
- 2 cups confectioners' sugar
- light cream
- 1 dash salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Recipe
- 1 cake directions: combine shortening, salt and vanilla. add sugar gradually and cream until light and fluffy. add eggs one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition. sift flour and baking powder together three times. add small amount of flour to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating after each addition until smooth.
- 2 pour batter into two greased 8-inch layer pans or a bundt pan. bake in a moderate oven 375f or 25 minutes, bundt pan for 45 minutes at 350°f
