Shirley's Sourdough Starter

Ingredients

  • Servings: 100
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups warm water (about 190 degrees)
  • 1 fresh yeast cake

Recipe

  • 1 mix together all ingredients in a bowl or large jar (nothing metal).
  • 2 set uncovered (or cover with a double thickness of cheese cloth) in a warm place (about 80 degrees) overnight. mixture will smell sour and be full of bubbles.
  • 3 keep your starter in the refrigerator in a glass jar covered with a piece of plastic wrap before screwing on the metal cap or a plastic container.
  • 4 after use, replenish with a proportional amount of flour and water.
