Shoo-fly Cake

Total Time: 55 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 45 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup margarine
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons hot water
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

Recipe

  • 1 mix all dry ingredients with margarine.
  • 2 take 1 cup of mixture and reserve for topping and set aside.
  • 3 dissolve baking soda in hot water.
  • 4 add molasses, water and dissolved baking soda.
  • 5 mix well.
  • 6 pour into a greased 9x13 pan.
  • 7 sprinkle with reserved topping mixture.
  • 8 bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until knife inserted comes out clean.
