Shoo-fly Coffee Cake

Ingredients

  • Servings: 14
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/2 cup light molasses
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/3 cups sour cream
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped nuts or 1/2 cup walnuts or 1/2 cup hazelnuts (your choice)
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon

Recipe

  • 1 heat oven to 350 degrees f.
  • 2 grease one 10" x 4" tube pan.
  • 3 mix the brown sugar, nuts and cinnamon, set aside.
  • 4 beat butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla, and molasses with an electric mixer for 2 minutes on medium.
  • 5 combine flour, baking powder, soda and salt.
  • 6 add the flour mixture and the sour cream alternately to the egg mixture until combined.
  • 7 spread 1/3 of batter in pan.
  • 8 sprinkle with 1/3 cinnamon-nut mixture, repeat twice.
  • 9 bake 55-60 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
