Skillet Apple Streusel Cake

Total Time: 1 hr 5 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 45 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 cup chopped small granny smith apple
  • 1 cup sliced nuts
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons orange juice

Recipe

  • 1 heat oven to 350 grease a 9-10" bundt pan or a 10" cast iron skillet.
  • 2 make stueusel in a medium bowl combine brown sugar, apples, nuts, flour and cinnamon.
  • 3 stir in the melted butter.
  • 4 make the cake in a medium bowl combine flour, baking powder and baking soda mix well.
  • 5 in large bowl with a electric mixer on medium speed beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • 6 add eggs one at a time, beat well after adding each egg, add vanilla.
  • 7 set mixer to low alternate beating flour and orange juice into mixture.
  • 8 spoon half of cake mixture into pan then sprinkle with half of streusel.
  • 9 add remaining cake mix swirl with knife if desired to make a pattern.
  • 10 bake for 15 minutes remove from oven and sprinkle with the remaining streusel.
  • 11 bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • 12 transfer to wire rack to cool completely.
  • 13 make the glaze- combine powdered sugar and orange juice, mix well and drizzle with a spoon over the top of cake and serve.
