Red Lobster Bananas Foster Cheesecake Clone

Ingredients

  • Servings: 10
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup finely chopped pecans
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (1/2 stick)
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons golden brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 lbs cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 cups pureed bananas (about 4 bananas)
  • 1 cup regular sour cream or 1 cup low-fat sour cream
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 cup regular sour cream or 1 cup low-fat sour cream
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Recipe

  • 1 position rack in center of oven and preheat oven to 350 degrees f.
  • 2 wrap outside of 9-inch diameter springform pan with 3-inch-high sides with heavy-duty foil.

Recipe

  • 1 stir together first 4 ingredients.
  • 2 press mixture into bottom and 1" up sides of a lightly greased 9" springform pan.
  • 3 beat cream cheese at medium speed with an electric mixer until smooth.
  • 4 gradually add 1 cup sugar, beating until blended.
  • 5 add eggs, 1 at a time, beating until blended after each addition.

  • 1 lightly oil griddle or frying pan and heat the pan.

  • 1/4 cup caraway seed
  • 1/2 cup sunflower seeds
  • 1/4 cup linseeds
  • 1 1/4-1 1/2 cups nut milk or 1 1/4-1 1/2 cups soymilk

  • 1 sift flours, cream of tatrar and bicarbonate soda.
  • 2 adds all the seeds to the flours.
  • 3 mix honey and soy milk together and stir slowly into the dry ingredients until flours and soy milk are combined.
  • 4 a little extra soy milk may be needed if your flours are old and dry.
  • 5 pour into a lightly greased loaf tin and bake in a moderate oven (350 degrees c) until the bread comes away from the tin or cook for approximately 40- 45 minutes.

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3 large eggs

  • 1 make crust: preheat oven to 350f with rack in middle. pulse almonds, sugar, matzo cake meal, and salt in a food processor until finely ground. transfer to a bowl and stir in butter until combined well. press onto bottom and 1 inch up side of springform pan. bake until crust is firm and a shade darker, 12 to 15 minutes. cool crust completely in pan on a rack.
  • 2 make filling and bake cheesecake: reduce oven temperature to 300°f beat together cream cheese and sugar in a bowl with an electric mixer at medium speed until smooth, 1 to 2 minutes. reduce speed to low and add eggs 1 at a time, mixing until incorporated. mix in zest and vanilla.

Ronny's Sugar-free Fruity Spice Cake

  • 1 cup dates
  • 2 cups cold water
  • 1/2 cup sultanas or 1/2 cup raisins
  • 2 -3 bananas (mashed)
  • 1 cup self raising flour
  • 1 cup wholemeal self-rising flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Recipe

  • 1 soak the dates in the water overnight, then blend into a syrup.
  • 2 add oil and vanila essence to date syrup.
  • 3 mix the dried fruit and flour together, then add liquid and mashed banana.
  • 4 consistency should be slightly thicker than a normal cake mix, but still easy to mix, so add a splash more water if necessary.
  • 5 pour into an oiled rectangular bread tin.
  • 6 bake at gas mark 4 (180c/350f) for an hour.
  • 7 top should be golden brown and a skewer inserted should come out clean.

Nora's Dutch Baby (german Oven Pancake)

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter or 1/4 cup hard margarine
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar or 1 tablespoon honey or 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 eggs

Recipe

  • 1 preheat your oven to 425 degrees. put the cold butter or margarine into a cast iron frying pan (i used a 10 inch calphalon black anodized skillet). put the pan in the oven to melt the butter and heat the pan.
  • 2 mix together the flour, salt, sugar, and milk. beat in the eggs one at a time until well mixed - you can do this by hand or with a mixer. pour this mixture into the hot pan in the oven.
  • 3 bake for 25 minutes. i personally noticed in the last 6 or so minutes that the top edges looked really done -- more than i'd like -- so i reduced the heat to 350.
  • 4 the pancake puffs up nice and high, like a souffle, and then collapses once you take it out of the oven. don't panic! this is supposed to happen. the edges will be high and slightly crispy, and the inside is flat and eggy.
  • 5 note: i trimmed the very top edges off (i like the eggy part the best) and topped with melted butter, powdered sugar and sliced fresh strawberries.

Potato Pie (patatnik)

Ingredients

  • 1/2 kg potato
  • 1 large onion
  • 3 -4 teaspoons dried thyme, to taste

Recipe

  • 1 peel and grate potatoes.
  • 2 salt and leave aside for 15 minutes.
  • 3 strain potatoes dry (salting would have caused the potatoes loosing water).
  • 4 grate onions and mix with the potatoes and dried thyme (you can add a bit of dried mint as well).
  • 5 heat oil in a shallow pan.
  • 6 add the potato mixture to the pan and spread evenly, forming a sort of 1- 2 cm thick pancake.
  • 7 cover with a lid and fry until the bottom is golden and a crust forms.
  • 8 hold pan with lid on and turn over the potato pie on the lid.
  • 9 slide potato pie on the uncooked side and repeat above steps until fried to golden.
  • 10 repeat until mixture runs out.

  • 2 (8 ounce) packages philadelphia cream cheese, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2/3 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup half-and-half

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 325°.

  • 1 heat the oven to 350 degrees. coat a 10-inch springform pan with cooking spray.
  • 2 separate 5 of the eggs into yolks and whites. set aside the whites. in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the 5 egg yolks with the 2 remaining whole eggs. add 1 cup of the sugar, the cinnamon, salt, vanilla and the lemon zest and juice. mix in the carrots and hazelnuts or almonds.
  • 3 in a clean bowl and using a clean whisk attachment, use an electric mixer to beat the 5 egg whites to stiff peaks, adding the 2 tablespoons of sugar once the whites are foamy. working in batches, gently fold the whites into the carrot batter.
  • 4 pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 50 minutes, or until a wooden skewer or cake tester inserted at the center of the cake comes out clean. allow to cool for at least 1 hour before unmolding.

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 425f and lightly grease two 8" round cake pans.
  • 2 mix and sift first four ingredients.
  • 3 cut in butter.
  • 4 beat egg in a measuring cup and fill to the 1/2 cup mark with milk.
  • 5 add egg and milk to the first mixture, stirring quickly until a soft but not sticky dough is formed, adding more milk if necessary.
  • 6 turn onto a lightly floured board and knead for a few seconds.
  • 7 divide dough in half and pat each gently into prepared pans.
  • 8 bake for about 12 minutes or until golden and done; turn out onto cooling rack.
  • 9 remove membrane from orange sections and sugar to taste.
  • 10 place sections between layers and decoratively on top of shortcake.
  • 11 combine sauce ingredients, bring to a boil and pour over shortcake.

Pecan Pie Cheese Cake

  • 1 make a graham cracker crust and pat it into a 9 inch spring form pan. bake at 400 for 8 minutes. cool.
  • 2 pecan filling:.
  • 3 combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan. bring to a boil over medium-high heat. reduce heat and simmer until thickened, about 8-10 minutes, stirring constantly. pour into crust and set aside.
  • 4 cheesecake filling:.
  • 5 reduce oven to 325°. with a hand mixer or stand mixer, beat cream cheese at medium speed until creamy. add brown sugar and flour and beat until fluffy. add eggs one at a time, beating well after each one. stir in cream and vanilla. pour over pecan filling. bake for 1 hour. turn off oven and leave cheesecake in oven with the door closed for 1 hour. remove from oven and run a knife along the outside edges to loosen cheesecake from sides of pan. let cool. chill for at least 4 hours before serving.
  • 6 **note: i always end up having a mushy crust whenever i try to do a water bath for my cheesecakes - i guess i just don't wrap the pan well enough in foil. this time i had a pyrex dish filled with very hot water on the bottom rack while the cheesecake baked on the top rack, and i did not have a single crack!

Quick & Easy Fruit Cobbler

  • 2 pie crusts, individual-sized and partially baked
  • 6 1/3 tablespoons granulated sugar (for ease, 1/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup corn syrup, i used light corn syrup
  • 1 tablespoon southern comfort (please see description) (optional)
  • 2 teaspoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup pecan halves

Recipe

  • 1 make sure you have a rack in the center of your oven and preheat to 350°f.
  • 2 in a mixing bowl, whisk the sugar, egg, corn syrup, melted butter, vanilla, salt, and bourbon (optional). mix until everything is well blended.
  • 3 place half of the pecans in each crust. pour the filling evenly into both crusts. bake for about 30 minutes, or until the filling is set.
  • 4 note: this recipe assumes you use pie crusts partially baked in a 4 by 1-3/4 inch tart pan or jumbo muffin tin. i made mine in 4 by 1-1/2 inch cake pans. i think next time i make this, if i am pressed for time, i may cut a 6-inch round from refrigerated pie crust and use in my pans to see how it works.

Orange Shake'm Up Cake

  • 4 add, self raising flour, baking powder, salt, seal and shake 50 more times or until smooth.
  • 5 pour into square cake pan (8 x 8 inch) and bake for 20 minutes or until cake comes away from the sides or until skewer comes out clean when inserted into the centre of the cake.
  • 6 ice with your favourite icing/frosting or sprinkle icing sugar.

Orange Sauce For Angel Food Cake

  • 1 pour boiling water over dates and baking soda and let stand while mixing batter.
  • 2 cream shortening until fluffy, then add sugar gradually. add eggs and beat well. add sifted flour and salt, alternating with date mixture. mix well. spices such as cinnamon, cloves or nutmeg may be added to flour mixture. add vanilla and blend.
  • 3 bake in 350 oven for 45 minutes, or until cake springs back when lightly touched.

Melt In Your Mouth Pancakes

Passover Pancakes

Recipe

  • 1 whisk orange juice and egg yolks together in a large jug.
  • 2 combine matzo meal, sugar, currents and cinnamon in a large bowl.
  • 3 make well in centre and add orange juice mixture using wooden spoon.
  • 4 mix well.
  • 5 using electric beater beat egg whites until soft peaks form.
  • 6 add a spoonful egg whites to mixture mix inches.
  • 7 add remaining egg whites using a large metal spoon to combine by folding.
  • 8 brush on-stick pan with a little oil. heat and cook pancakes as desired.
  • 9 dust with icing sugar to serve.

Passionfruit Spread (no Eggs)

  • 100 g passion fruit pulp (approx 3/4 cup)
  • 2 tablespoons flour

  • 1 add sufficient water to passionfruit pulp to make up 1 cup.
  • 2 put all ingredients into a saucepan bring to a boil, then boil (but not a low simmer) for 10 minutes, stirring frequently after it boils - must not stir until it has boiled or it will go candied.
  • 3 this will thicken as it cools.

Simple Rosti

  • 1 scrub the potatoes but leave the skin on.
  • 2 cook the potatoes in boiling water for 7 minutes and allow to cool completely. when cool grate into a bowl.
  • 3 heat 15g of the butter and cook the onion until soft. stir the onion mix into the potato.
  • 4 melt half of the remaining butter in a frying pan and add the potato mixture forming it into a cake shape.
  • 5 cook for 15 minutes or until the bottom of the cake is brown.
  • 6 melt the remaining butter and pour over the top of the cake. turn the rosti over and cook until golden.

  • 4 spread batter into pan. bake at 325 degrees f (165 degrees c) for 20 minutes.
  • 5 for the second layer: in a large bowl, combine 1/2 cup butter or margarine, 2 eggs, milk, sugar, corn syrup and reserved 3/4 cup cake mix.
  • 6 mix well and pour over first layer.
  • 7 bake at 325 degrees f for 25 to 30 minutes. makes 1 - 10x15 inch cake.

Orange Pudding Cake

  • 1 preheat oven to 350°f.

Passover Apple Cake

  • 5 egg whites, divided
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1/4 cup orange juice

  • 4 cups apples, peeled and thinly sliced (3-4 apples)

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • 2 stir the cake meal and salt together and set aside.
  • 3 beat 3 egg whites until stiff and set aside.
  • 4 beat the remaining 2 egg whites, oil, orange juice and 3/4 cup sugar together with a mixer for 5 minutes.
  • 5 stir in the cake meal until thoroughly blended.
  • 6 fold in the stiffly beaten egg whites.
  • 7 spoon half of the batter into a greased 8 or 9 inch square pan.
  • 8 arrange the apples over the batter.

  • 1 mix the corn muffin and bread crumbs in a large bowl. sauté the onion and celery in butter until soft. add to crumbs along with salt, pepper, parsley and poultry seasoning. smell and taste to adjust seasoning. let sit out overnight to dry a bit and for the flavors to blend. adjust the seasoning again the next day.
  • 2 when you want to make the waffles mix the egg into the bread mixture. add the stock a little at a time and mix well. you want the stuffing mix to be wetter than if you we baking in a pan – about the consistency of thick pancake batter. bake according to manufacturer’s directions using enough ‘batter’ to cover the cooking plate completely.
  • 3 makes six 4x4.5-inch waffles.

Norm's Potato Cakes

  • 1 onion
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 tablespoon plain flour (all purpose)

  • 1 tablespoon butter or 1 tablespoon margarine
  • 1 teaspoon dried herbs (optional)
  • 1 pinch nutmeg (optional) or 1 pinch cayenne pepper (optional)

  • 1 (125 g) can sweet corn, drained (optional)

Recipe

  • 1 peel and grate the potatoes and the onion into a small mixing bowl.
  • 2 (i use the grating blade of my food processor but grating by hand works just as well.) stir in the egg and the flour.
  • 3 if the batter looks to runny add a little more flour- if it is too dry, add a splash of milk.
  • 4 season well with pepper and salt and any other optional ingredients.
  • 5 melt oil and butter together in a medium frypan and heat until sizzling.
  • 6 you can now add the batter in one of two ways: dad's method- add spoonfuls of batter to the pan to form circles about 8-10cm (4 inches) in diameter.
  • 7 cook for about 5 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  • 8 cook in batches of 2 or 3 and keep warm on a plate in an oven set on a low temperature.
  • 9 my method- tip all of the batter into the frypan and flatten it out with the back of a spoon so that it fills the whole pan evenly.
  • 10 cook on one side for about 5 minutes then invert a dinner plate over the top of the pan and tip the potato cake onto the plate.
  • 11 now, simply slide the cake back into the pan and cook on the other side for about 5 minutes.
  • 12 when both sides are cooked, invert the potato cake onto the plate again and cut it into wedges.
  • 13 serve topped with mayonnaise, sour cream or ranch dressing and chopped chives or chopped green onions.

Semolina Cake

  • 2 preheat the oven to 350 degrees f (175 degrees c).
  • 3 generously grease and flour a bundt cake pan.
  • 4 in a large bowl, mix together the cake mix, pudding mix, spices and salt, mix well.
  • 5 now add the eggs, sour cream, evaporated milk, vegetable oil and beat for 2 minutes, make sure it is well blended, then mix in the raisins and spread evenly into the prepared pan.
  • 6 bake for 38 to 43 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. make sure to check cake at the 35 minute mark to see if it is neccessary to continue baking.

  • 9 while the cake is baking start the sauce, put a saute pan on medium heat and melt the butter.
  • 10 now, add reserved peach juice, sugar, cinnamon and vanilla, stir until dissolved.
  • 11 when dissolved add the peaches and rum and cook until sauce is thickened, about 6 -10 minutes.
  • 12 remove from heat and cool slightly. may be served warm or at room temperature.
  • 13 when ready to serve, slice the cake, add a scope of vanilla ice cream if using and cover with the golden peaches in rum sauce.

Orange Refrigerator Cake

  • 1 (4 5/8 ounce) package vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 (1/4 ounce) envelope unflavored gelatin
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 2 loaves angel food cake
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream, whipped

Recipe

  • 1 prepare pudding according to package directions; set aside.
  • 2 in a small sauce-pan, sprinkle gelatin over orange juice; let stand for 1 minute.
  • 3 cook and stir over low heat until gelatin is completely dissolved.
  • 4 stir into pudding.
  • 5 add orange peel.
  • 6 transfer to a large bowl.
