Self Frosting Marshmallow Applesauce Cake

Ingredients
- Servings: 6
- 2 3/4 cups flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon clove
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups unsweetened applesauce
- 1 cup walnut halves
- 20 large marshmallows
Recipe
- 1 sift dry ingredients together.
- 2 add shortening, eggs and applesauce.
- 3 beat until smooth and well blended.
- 4 fold in walnuts.
- 5 pour into greased and floured 9x13" pan.
- 6 press whole marshmallows into batter to bottom of pan.
- 7 (twenty marshmallows should make 4 rows with 5 marshmallows to a row). they will rise to the top during baking and make the frosting.
- 8 bake at 350 for about 50 minutes.
