Nova Scotia Ginger Cake

Ingredients
- Servings: 6
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 egg (beaten)
- 1 cup molasses
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 cup hot water
Recipe
- 1 cream together butter, shortening and sugar.
- 2 add egg and molasses, mix until smooth.
- 3 add dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon and cloves.
- 4 add hot water and beat until smooth.
- 5 pour into a prepared 9x9 baking pan.
- 6 bake at 350°f for 35 minutes.
