- 1 cup milk
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven to 350 degrees. thoroughly grease a 9 or 10 inch tube pan. heat the milk and butter together in a saucepan until the butter is melted and the mixture is lukewarm. in a large bowl, beat the eggs until foamy. add the sugar gradually, as you beat, and beat until light and fluffy. add the milk-butter mixture. add the flour and beat well, and then beat in the vanilla and salt. last of all, beat in the baking powder.
- 2 pour and scrape the batter into the pan. bake 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. cool on rack.
